About Us

If you asked me why a successful entrepreneur, already established in construction and road safety, involved in textiles and advanced services, decided to invest in the wine sector, the answer could only be one: I love my land. I love it because I have an undying attachment to my roots. I am, first and foremost, the son of farmers, with a childhood and adolescence spent roaming the fields among humble and honest people in Torrecuso, where I was born and where I live, managing my businesses. Only those who have grown up and live in contact with the land, the sun, the air, and the water, only those who embody a healthy work ethic, will be able to tell future generations, and especially their own children, about the powerful emotions that come from the sweat and harshness of toiling in the fields. Combining these sentiments with cutting-edge technology, experience, and professionalism, and a desire to produce and market conviviality, quality, and emotion, was a necessary step for someone like me whose primary goal for years has been to promote our region in Italy and around the world.

The Fortress takes its name from its structure, which recalls an ancient fortress entirely carved into the volcanic rock of Mount Taburno and entirely surrounded by the greenery of the surrounding nature of olive groves and vineyards.

La Fortezza is also a wonderful estate comprising two buildings. The villa, with its large open spaces and splendid views of the Apennine mountains, hosts events, tastings, and vineyard tours and is separated from the production area by two spectacular medieval-style gates.

The architecture of the cellar, with barrel vaults carved into the tuff and lined with bricks in the wine aging area, is itself an emblem of La Fortezza's philosophy, which is inspired by the perfect fusion of history, nature, and modern technology.

Among the grape varieties that characterize La Fortezza's wine production is Aglianico del Taburno which, thanks to careful selection in the vineyard, allows for the production of extremely high-quality wines.

Another grape variety is Falanghina del Taburno, whose rows enjoy excellent exposure, producing excellent grapes naturally. The vineyards also include Greco, Fiano, Piedirosso, and Barbera, which produce exceptional wines.

From these vines and the expert work in the cellar, seven product lines are born: the main ones, the 'Premium' line, the winery's latest creation, with four wines: white, red, and sparkling white and rosé; the 'Classica' line with labels boasting the DOCG or DOC designation; the new international line , which includes Cardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet as well as Aglianico and Falanghina; and the prestigious 'Bollicine' line.

The Cellar

The Cellar, the beating heart of the Fortress

Our winery stands at the heart of the Monte Taburno vineyards, the beating heart of our business and a place where tradition and innovation meet. Entirely clad in stone and harmoniously integrated into the landscape, it consists of two distinct buildings.

The Fortress has joined the “Good Agricultural Practice” project, which promotes the management of agricultural activities based on eco-compatibility and sustainability .

The goal is to obtain high-quality and safe raw materials, while fully respecting the environment. To support this philosophy, the company uses cutting-edge systems such as fertigation, which allows treatments to be applied only when truly necessary.

A production potential of approximately
one million bottles per year

The winery's production facility, housing the winemaking machinery, the bottling and labeling room, the steel tanks, the warehouse, the area for refining and producing the classic method sparkling wine, and the wonderful and evocative vault complete the complex. The winery currently boasts a production potential of approximately one million bottles annually, destined for the Italian and international markets.
In fact, foreign trade is a prominent item in the balance sheet, with exports operating in the markets of China, the United States, Japan, Canada, Switzerland, France, Spain, England, etc.

The Vault

An evocative place, a tunnel dug underground where the constant temperature and just the right level of humidity create the perfect environment for ageing the finest vintages in glass, accompanied by a religious silence and the perfect amount of darkness.

Sparkling wines

As for the production of sparkling wines, La Fortezza has an internal sparkling wine production system capable of producing excellent bottles with both the 'classic method' and the 'Martinotti-Charmat' method.

These processes require
of oenological expertise and
adequate technology, elements
which contribute to defining the
production quality together
to the choice of oriented cultivation
to an agriculture that respects the
territory and aimed at its
environmental conservation.
